Are you eligible?

At St Luke's Housing Society Limited, we currently manage our own lettings.  This means we hold our own waiting list where people in need of accommodation make contact to make an application for housing.   We have a total of 38 properties so our stock is small and in high demand.    We are unable to predict when a property may become available as this is dependent on factors outside of our control.

 

Empty properties do not become available very often but we do encourage those interested to make an application so we can hold their details confidentially on our waiting list.

 

We encourage those making housing applications to contact their local authority housing department to apply to go on the general / sheltered housing register.  You may also be able to enquire about Extra Care Housing via your local authority Adult Social Care department.  Please see links below:

To live at McMaster House you need to be a resident of Oxfordshire, or provide evidence of a local connection to the area.

Age Criteria

You must be aged 55 years or over. 

 

Applications for younger residents may be considered if there is evidence of an exceptional mobility or health need.

You will need to provide photo Identification and proof of current address.

The aim of the association is to provide affordable and safe housing for older people, helping to meet the demand of the local area.

Live Independently 

You must be able to live independently.

 

We are not a care provider or nursing home so we are unable to provide this type of care for our residents. 

 

We do have some residents onsite who have regular carers to help them maintain their independence.  We have excellent links with private care agencies and can make referrals to GPs, Adult Social Care and other external support.

Assessment

You must pass our support needs assessment and affordability assessments.  The support needs assessment looks at any significant or complex needs and looks at suitability for the scheme.  Our affordability checks look at income and expenditure, eligibility for welfare benefits and looks at any history or rent arrears or debt.  We also carry out reference checks with previous landlords to check there have been no issues with nuisance or tenancy breaches.

McMaster House

St Luke's Housing Society has been providing affordable social housing for older adults since we opened our doors in 1984.  Our properties are purpose built, self contained flats in a residential block located in central Headington.  We are a small housing association that aims to provide housing for those most in need.  We promote independent living and support residents to seek support as their needs become greater, however, we are not a care provider or nursing home.

Not-for-profit

We are a not-for-profit Registered Social Landlord with charitable status.  We are regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing and the Financial Conduct Authority.

38 Self Contained Flats

Our properties are generously sized studios or one bedroom  apartments, offering residents their own kitchen and bathroom facilities, living spaces and storage.  Properties are heated by communal gas central heating and all properties have their own electric meters.  Properties are located across four levels, with main passenger lifts, stair lifts and stair wells.

Community Facilities

Our scheme is enhances to offer independent living, into and past retirement age, offering access to communal facilities, including a communal laundry, buggy store, communal lounge, library and communal kitchen.  

24 Hour

Emergency Response

Provision of emergency telecare system to each flat and in communal areas, offering residents the reassurance of attendance in the event of an emergency.  Emergency Responders available 24 hours a day and are available when staff are not located onsite.

Sensory Garden

We have recently carried out works to the communal rear patio with the installation of a large pergola and seating area and planters.  We hope this provides a peaceful and relaxing area for our residents to enjoy.

Onsite Staff

Staff work Monday to Friday and are onsite most days.  Staff work remotely and onsite providing residents with easy access to discuss any queries they may have.

Expertise

Staff have extensive knowledge and experience of housing management, elderly services and support services.  Staff have excellent links with external support services, so you know you are in safe hands.  Staff are well equipped to deal with repairs and maintenance issues, providing reassurance to our residents.  

Support

As well as 24 Hour Emergency Response Cover, staff are trained to offer support and assessments for residents when required.  All residents are offered annual support plans, assessing individual needs, giving advice and signposting to other services when required.

Local Ameneties

Excellent local amenities within a short walk away.  These include local hospitals, health surgeries, dentists, supermarkets, hairdressers, beauticians, restaurant's, cafes anf pubs.

Public Transport

Located in central Headington.  Within walking distance of local bus stops into Oxford, local hospital and coach stop to London and airports.
